Chicane

A sharp bend in a path intended to slow cyclists but usually just ends up creating conflict between path users, a barrier for people with disabilities, and eventually causes crashes due to people slipping and falling or bikes with trailers not being able to make the sharp turn.

The West Cambridge and Northwest Cambridge sites have a number of dangerous chicanes that were installed years ago and still have not been removed. That the University Estate Management refuses to remove these hazards and install infrastructure that is respectful of people cycling remains an ongoing sore point.
