Many technologies are designed to be "persuasive" - texts or rhetorical devices whose intention is to change the behaviour of the people using them. As human and social interventions, such design activities demand an interdisciplinary perspective that encompasses phenomena as diverse as personal motivation, textual hermeneutics, and political science.
