Funded by EPSRC as an early example of their Ideas Factory concept for funding interdisciplinary research collaborations, this large-scale research programme was originally proposed by Crucible members at Aptivate, and four interdisciplinary research projects were initiated through a sandpit process directed by Alan Blackwell.
