Initially funded by EPSRC, this series of investigations has explored the opportunities to use machine learning techniques to automate mundane repetitive operations. Starting with case studies based on office work such as word-processor usage, this led to the development of Blackwell's Attention Investment framework as modelled by [{Sam Staton]], then applied to domestic automation through a programme of ethnographic and experimental investigation of home management and entertainment devices.
