Personal music research project by Computer Lab PhD students Ian Davies and Meredydd Luff. This automated MIDI accompaniment system is able to play additional tracks of a MIDI score in synchrony with a human performer playing part of the score on a MIDI instrument.

The main technical achievements are inferring precise musical context (to millisecond level) on a probabilistic basis, and maintaining an instantaneous estimate of tempo.

Experimental evaluation of the system's potential as a performance aid is being planned in consultation with Crucible collaborators:
