John was a PhD student supervised by David MacKay in the Cavendish Laboratory, and was awarded the Microsoft post-doctoral research fellowship in Machine Learning at Darwin College. He is now based in the Machine Learning group at Microsoft Research Cambridge.
He was founder and CTO of Hypertag, a company that participated in a number of Crucible design explorations.
