As Professor of Social Anthropology, and member of the Advisory Board and Management Committee for CRASSH, Marilyn has had a long-term interest in interdisciplinarity, and has been closely involved in a number of Crucible projects.

She directed the project Social Property and New Social Forms, as a component of which she published reflections on the social enterprise of interdisciplinarity in the book Commons and Borderlands.
