A programme of work initiated by composer in residence - Alejandro Viñao, this project is exploring methods by which musical sounds can be substituted, combined or resynthesised by analysis of the perception of timbre. Drawing on the experimental techniques and findings of the Virtual Violins project, this research applies spectral analysis and machine learning techniques to create new musical sounds.
