This interdisciplinary design collaboration with Microsoft Research investigated patterns and contexts of web usage, working in partnership with a digital strategy team at Cambridgeshire County Council. An innovative mixed methods approach logged individual keystrokes from instrumented web browsers, capturing screen shots of all navigation. Data mining analysis was repeated on a daily basis, with distinctive episodes extracted and used for contextual interviews with individuals the following day, showing screen capture images to prompt them for reports of their experiences.
