Xerox EuroPARC was established in 1987, as a European branch of the successful Xerox PARC research centre. EuroPARC anticipated many of the research concerns of Crucible, with its specific focus on interdisciplinarity, and on the integration of social science into a technology research context.

A Crucible project run by Alan Blackwell, Mark Blythe and Jofish Kaye has investigated the outcomes of that strategic focus through a series of interviews with the alumni.
