Martin is a mathematician, musicologist and jazz pianist. He completed a PhD in music cognition at the Centre for Music and Science, supervised by Ian Cross, and funded by Microsoft Research Cambridge. He subsequently worked in the machine learning group at Microsoft, exploring inference of musical structures.
