How do I get edit access to a talk or list
The normal procedure for granting edit access to Talks and Lists on Talks.cam is as follows:
- Any user who currently has edit access can grant edit access rights to any other user
- The user who created the Talk or List automatically has edit access initially
- Any user who currently has edit access can also revoke edit access rights
To find out who currently has edit access to a Talk or List, go to the Talk or List page itself, and simply locate the following text:
"If you have a question about this list/talk, please contact: OrganiserName"
Each OrganiserName is linked to a user profile page that contains their email address (you need to be logged in to view it).
If you need edit access, please contact the existing Organisers first and ask them to grant you access. They may find this help page useful.
The content on the Talks.cam site belongs to the List/Talk Organisers, and thus we prefer not to interfere without their prior permission unless absolutely necessary; plus you will often get a faster response from them.
ONLY IF NONE of the existing Organisers are contactable (e.g. they have ALL left the University, or are on an extended period of leave, etc), then the Talks.cam Support team can intervene - please read all of this carefully:
- Please ENSURE that you include a LINK to the List you need access to e.g. https://talks.cam.ac.uk/show/index/1234 , NOT just the Title
- Please quote the email address that Talks.cam has recorded for you - to find this out: login by your preferred means, then under the left-hand heading "Manage your account", click "Edit your details"
- Explain to them that you have tried contacting ALL the existing Organisers but that none are available
- Bear in mind that the Talks.cam Support team may take a number of days to reply - they are not able to respond to urgent queries to grant edit access
