The Cambridge University Moving Image Studio (CUMIS) was founded as an independent centre associated with the Cambridge department of [[Architecture]] by [[François Penz]] and [[Maureen Thomas]]. CUMIS hosted an innovative Masters programme in [[Architecture and the Moving Image]], and projects funded by companies including [[BT]] and [[Sony Computer Entertainment Europe]].

CUMIS combined thematic questions of space (Penz) and narrative (Thomas), with direct applications in film, in architectural visualisation, in multimedia digital arts, and in videogame design.
