Crucible members have both advocated and established interdisciplinary design courses in a variety of degree syllabuses around Cambridge and elsewhere. New experimental courses continue to be established at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

On the basis of advice from Gillian Crampton-Smith, an attempt was made to establish a radical design-oriented syllabus that would be taught by Crucible members, commencing in the first year of the Cambridge Computer Science Tripos under the title Design, Theory and Society.
